This Day in Braves History: August 10

1949 - The Braves defeat the Dodgers but Brooklyn protests the outcome. Duke Snider hits a long drive off the screen in centerfield that is originally called a home run by home plate umpire Artie Gore. The Braves point out that according to the ground rules at Ebbets Field, the ball is still in play. Gore eventually sends Snider back to third base where he is left stranded.
