This Day in Braves History: September 23

1948 - The Braves clinch the NL pennant defeating the Giants 3-2. They will finish 6 1/2 games ahead of the Dodgers.

1950 - Johnny Sain fails to win his 20th game but hits his first major league home run. The Braves fall to the Giants 4-3 as Sam Jethroe loses Don Mueller’s fly ball in the sun with two outs in the 10th.
