The Latest: Jackson throws scoreless 6th, Braves lead 5-1

HOUSTON — The Latest on Game 1 of the World Series (all times local):

Luke Jackson relieved A.J. Minter and threw a scoreless sixth inning, leaving the Atlanta Braves with a 5-1 lead over the Houston Astros in the World Series opener.

Minter pitched 2 2/3 innings and 43 pitches, his most in five big league seasons, after starter Charlie Morton left with a broken right calf bone.

Jackson allowed Kyle Tucker's one-out single in the sixth, then retired Yuli Gurriel on a groundout and struck out Chas McCormick.

Phil Maton escaped two-on trouble in the top of the sixth after relieving Jake Odorizzi.
