The Braves won on Monday, beating the Cubs by an 8-7 final. The offense broke out of their Sunday slump, but as the score might suggest, the Atlanta staff was less impressive. Charlie Morton squandered an early 4-0 lead, then relinquished a 5-4 lead, perpetuating the struggles for Braves pitchers in 2021. Tyler Matzek also gave up two runs, though he was able to preserve the lead ahead of the back end of the Atlanta bullpen. The Braves now own a 4.89 ERA, second-worst in baseball. For all the struggles on offense, the issues in the Atlanta staff appear to be much more dire.
