The Braves swept a doubleheader against the Nationals on Wednesday. Among the heroes in those efforts were Ronald Acuña, Pablo Sandoval, and Huascar Ynoa, but maybe the most pleasant came in the final inning of the second game, when embattled Braves left-hander Sean Newcomb entered the game. Newcomb was tasked with nailing down a win for Atlanta, and did so in impressive fashion as he struck out the side, pumping fastballs in the upper 90’s to overpower Washington and give the Braves a victory. An outing like this could be a turning point for Newcomb as he looks to nail down a spot in the bullpen this season.
