The Braves were on the receiving end of a brilliant season from right-hander Mike Soroka in 2019, and the rookie placed highly in the NL Cy Young Award balloting released on Wednesday. Soroka finished sixth, including one third-place vote, landing him just one spot behind eventual World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg. Jacob deGrom was the winner, giving him back-to-back Cy Young Awards.
Soroka was the subject of criticism earlier this week as he stood between Pete Alonso and a unanimous Rookie of the Year Award.
