The Daily Chop: MLBPA files grievance, Ronald Acuña Jr. day-to-day and more

The Collective Bargaining Agreement between Major League Baseball and the MLBPA is set to expire in a little more than six months. Negotiations will now have another wrinkle as the Players Association filed a $500 million grievance against the league a little over two weeks ago per a report by The Athletic’s Evan Drellich. The grievance alleges that the league did not act in good faith when it set the schedule for the 2002 season. MLB filled a counter-claim arguing that the 60-game regular season was necessary due to health and safety reasons.

A grievance has long been expected, but it will be worth watching to see how this ultimately plays out.
