Atlanta Braves third base coach Ron Washington was the runner-up to Jayce Tingler in the Padres’ search for a new manager. Rather than join the club as a bench coach, it appears that Washington will remain in his current job with the Braves. That is good news for Atlanta as Washington has developed into somewhat of a father figure for some of Atlanta’s young players. Washington has also played a huge part as the team’s infield coach as the Braves again rolled out one of the best defensive infields in the National League in 2019.
It remains to be seen whether any other changes are coming for Brian Snitker’s coaching staff but it at least it appears that Washington will be a part of it in 2020.
