Coming into the 2021 season, one of the big storylines that we expected to play out quickly was Freddie Freeman’s contract status with the Atlanta Braves. Freeman is in the final year of his deal and although both sides have expressed interest in getting a deal done, it has not happened yet.
Freeman was asked again about his contract status and the state of negotiations prior to Tuesday’s series opener in New York and indicated that he is not interested in negotiating an extension during the season saying that it would be a distraction.
“I don’t know if we could really even talk right now,” Freeman said.
