The Daily Chop: Catching Situation, Melancon, Springer, and more

The Braves have done an excellent job finding production behind the plate over the past several years, and did so again in 2020 with the addition of Travis d’Arnaud. However, backup Tyler Flowers became a free agent this offseason and could potentially sign elsewhere. Would the Braves turn to William Contreras to play behind d’Arnaud? The possibility exists but given his age, Contreras seems like a safe bet for more playing time in the minors. More likely, Atlanta will target a veteran and could very well bring back Flowers, but for now we can only wait and see which option they choose.
