Teheran stumbles as Braves' win streak snapped

ATLANTA -- If simply looking at the earned run average Julio Teheran has produced over his past eight starts, there might be some reason to believe the Braves' Opening Day starter would be a lock for a spot in the potential postseason rotation. But a handful of metrics indicate his recent success has been aided by good fortune.

Teheran's good fortune didn't necessarily expire as he managed to allow just two runs while issuing a career-high six walks over just four innings of Saturday afternoon's 7-1 loss to the Nationals at SunTrust Park. But his shaky performance weakened his bid for a postseason roster spot and marked the start of a frustration-filled day for the Braves, who set a dubious franchise record.
