Manny Machado gave Teheran a scare to lead off the inning, poking a fly ball to deep left field, but Adam Duvall made the catch on the warning track. Teheran then induced Edwin Encarnacion to pop up to Wilson Ramos against the backstop behind the plate, before getting Francisco Lindor to sky a pop fly to shortstop Corey Seager.
All in all, Teheran threw 12 pitches, nine of them for strikes.
Teheran was one half of an historic all-Colombian fifth inning, after his countryman, Jose Quintana, pitched the top half for the AL.
