Swarmer released, Alexy signs with Atlantic League team

Aug. 5—Pitcher Matt Swarmer, a Gov. Mifflin and Kutztown University product, has been released by the Atlanta Braves.

Swarmer, a right-hander who had been with Triple-A Gwinnett, was let go on July 27. In 19 games for the Stripers, one of them a start, Swarmer was 2-4 with an 8.07 ERA. The 29-year-old allowed 36 hits, walked 24 and struck out 30 in 32.1 innings.

He signed a minor league contract with Atlanta in February.
