Shane Carle leaves outing with numbness in right thumb and index finger

It’s been a great run for Shane Carle in April so far, but after throwing his first two pitches in May, he was forced to depart the seventh inning of Tuesday’s game with an injury. Facing Adrian Gonzalez, Carle missed the zone with each of his first two attempts, and then signaled for the trainers while shaking his head and snapping his fingers.

There are many causes for numbness in the hand and fingers, some pitching-related, others not.
