Saginaw’s Spencer Schwellenbach throws another quality start in Atlanta Braves win

Former Saginaw Heritage star Spencer Schwellenbach rebounded from one of the worst starts of his career to help the Atlanta Braves earn a win Thursday over Cincinnati.

Schwellenbach threw six innings, leaving with a 2-1 lead. But the Reds rallied, and the teams went into extra innings tied at 4-4 before Atlanta scored the winning run in the 11th inning.

Schwellenbach allowed five hits, one earned run and two walks. He struck out six and threw 63 of 93 pitches for strikes in lowering his earned run average to 3.61.

The 24-year-old right-hander, who has six quality starts in eight appearances this season, was coming off a 10-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
