As the Kansas City Royals look to continue their success into the 2025 season after losing in the ALDS to the New York Yankees last season, news has surfaced on one of their former legends on Tuesday.
Whit Merrifield hasn't seen the field since last September after playing in 95 games for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves in 2024.
After not finding a team to sign with in 2025, Merrifield announced his retirement from the game on Tuesday.
In a statement following his decision to retire, Merrifield said, "I was so privileged and blessed to have played in the cities I played in.
