Craig Kimbrel has found a new home.
Three days after being designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves, the former Boston Red Sox closer agreed to a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported.
The Braves called up Kimbrel after they blew a six-run lead in the ninth inning to the Arizona Diamondbacks to eventually lose, 11-10. The veteran closer pitched a scoreless seventh inning and gave up a hit, a walk and struck out a batter in his lone appearance for Atlanta.
It was Kimbrel’s first appearance for the Braves since 2014 during his first stint with the team.
