Report: Atlanta Braves fire manager Fredi Gonzalez (Big League Stew)

In a move that will surprise very few, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that the Atlanta Braves have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez. Gonzalez led the 2016 squad to a 9-28 start, the worst in franchise history.

Gonzalez came to the Braves in 2011, replacing legendary manager Bobby Cox. Overall, Gonzalez is 434-413 with the Braves in just over five seasons.

Gonzalez was in a really tough situation in Atlanta. The Braves are in the middle of a massive tear-down and rebuild, and after trading much of their major league talent, Gonzalez was given little to work with.
