On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Rays announced that second baseman Brandon Lowe has been placed on the 10-day injured list with left foot and ankle tendinitis, retroactive to July 20. In a corresponding move, the club acquired outfielder Stuart Fairchild from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations.
Lowe exited Saturday’s game against the Orioles after experiencing a flare-up of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The injury has since been diagnosed as tendinitis, though the severity remains uncertain. He underwent an MRI, and while he is eligible to return as early as next week, a definitive timeline has not yet been established.
