Pitcher Matt Swarmer, a Gov. Mifflin and Kutztown University product, signs with Lancaster Barnstormers

Aug. 10—Pitcher Matt Swarmer, a Gov. Mifflin and Kutztown University product, has signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League, the team announced Thursday.

The right-handed Swarmer, 29, was released by the Atlanta Braves organization on July 27 while with Triple-A Gwinnett.

"Swarmer has a pretty good track record," said Lancaster manager Ross Peeples in a press release. "He has a funky delivery and will come in and start for us. We are looking forward to him helping us in our playoff push."

Swarmer went 2-4 with an 8.07 ERA in 18 games, one of them a start, for Gwinnett.
