It all came down to the final out.

The Pittsburgh Pirates were one out away from a spring training no-hitter, thanks to a double play in the bottom of the ninth against the Atlanta Braves.

Right-handed reliever Nick Mears lost the no-hit bid when Phillip Ervin singled on a soft fly to right field. The Pirates lost their shutout when Mears' balk allowed Ryan Goins to score from third.

The Pirates pounded out 17 hits and rolled to a 10-1 victory over the Braves in nine innings Tuesday at CoolTodayPark in North Port, Fla.
