Nick Markakis Opts Out of 2020 Season

When it was announced that four Braves had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, including Freddie Freeman showing clear symptoms and the negative impact the virus can cause, there was plenty of speculation that it could lead to some surprising yet understandable decisions among other Braves and players around the league. First, it was Felix Hernandez and David Price. Those decisions continued today.

Brian Snitker just announced Nick Markakis has elected to opt out for this season.

Outfielder Nick Markakis has informed manager Brian Snitker and the Braves that he has decided not to play the 2020 season.
