Morton seeks catharsis and/or encore as World Series rematch with Astros continues

In 2021, Charlie Morton was instrumental in pushing the Braves into the playoffs and beyond, putting up 4.6 fWAR in the regular season and then making three postseason starts that helped propel the Braves into the championship. (Amusingly, in those three starts, Morton had positive WPA in two, and the Braves lost both. They won the game in which he himself had negative WPA.) He drew the start in Game 1 of the World Series against the Astros, pitched a scoreless inning, and then...

...a comebacker off the bat of Yuli Gurriel broke his fibula. Morton initially remained in the game, retiring three more batters, but ultimately had to exit the Braves’ eventual 6-2 win, and couldn’t be on the field to celebrate the championship with his teammates.
