MLB Weekly Wrap: Another fire sale coming?

Related Topics: Fire sale

We’ve seen this movie before. The Marlins accumulate a bundle of talent on their roster, give it a run, and trade virtually everyone away and start over.

The first two times it happened, the Marlins were coming off a World Series. After notching the crown in 1998, the Marlins dealt away the likes of Moises Alou, Kevin Brown, Gary Sheffield and Bobby Bonilla for other young players and sunk to the bottom of the standings.

After their 2003 title, Derrek Lee, Ivan Rodriguez and Ugueth Urbina exited, but the major fire sale portion came in 2005, when the Marlins dealt Carlos Delgado, Josh Beckett and Juan Pierre among others.
