Milestone Double Pushes Braves Star Into Elite MLB Company

Matt Olson reached a major career milestone during the Braves’ 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins Saturday night at Truist Park—and did it in fitting fashion.

In the bottom of the first inning, Olson lined a run-scoring double into the gap off Twins opener Justin Topa, knotting the score at 1-1 and notching his 1,000th career hit in the process. The moment not only helped spark Atlanta’s comeback—it also placed Olson in elite company.

At just 30 years old, Olson became just the 22nd primary first baseman in MLB history to tally at least 260 home runs and 1,000 hits before turning 32.
