Braves manager Brian Snitker announced on Tuesday that Mike Foltynewicz will be activated for Saturday’s home game against the Rockies. It will be Foltynewicz’s 2019 debut after missing the first four weeks of the season with an elbow injury.
Foltynewicz ended up making four rehab starts with Gwinnett, and while the results weren’t very encouraging (6.11 ERA, 7.13 K/9, 4.58 BB/9 over 18 innings), his stuff looked good and he was hampered by some poor weather in two of the starts.
Foltynewicz’s elbow first started barking in early March. The Braves opted to take the cautious approach and shut him down, especially after he dealt with a similar ailment last summer that caused him to miss a couple starts.
