The Mets fell to the San Francisco Giants 3-2 on Thursday night, finishing off a brutal 13-game stretch against the Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers with a 2-11 record.
The loss dropped the Mets 7.5 games back of the Atlanta Braves with 55 games left, but Pete Alonso isn't giving up hope yet.
"Honestly, I don’t think it’s too late. To me, I don’t think it’s ever too late to flip the script," said Alonso, who hit his 29th homer of the season in the loss. "Yeah, there are other teams ahead of us in the standings, but we can’t control how the other teams play.
