The news on Jacob deGrom is as good as the Mets could have hoped but it doesn’t mean all systems will be go for their ace soon. After all, he went 10 days between starts and still had an issue with his right side that forced him out of Sunday’s game prematurely and onto the IL, so a clean MRI only allows for so much of a sigh of relief.
Clearly the Mets are right to proceed with caution, and fortunately for them the current state of the NL East seems to offer plenty of evidence that time is on their side.
