ATLANTA — The Mets have their sights set on a rare sweep of the Braves on Sunday afternoon.
The offense has set the tone for the Mets in the opening two games of the series, with a 21-hit game in the opener followed by a six-home run performance in a 9-2 victory on Saturday night.
In the midst of a stretch of 16 games with no off days, Carlos Mendoza moved Pete Alonso into the designated hitter position, with Mark Vientos lined up at first base for Sunday's game. Brandon Nimmo remained out of the starting lineup, but Mendoza said he was likely available off the bench.
