NEW YORK — The Mets are limping into the halfway point of the season.
Despite a strong debut from Frankie Montas on Tuesday night, the bullpen surrendered a three-run lead in a 7-4 loss to the Braves. It was the Mets' third straight loss and their 10th defeat in their last 11 contests.
The Mets will get their first look at Braves rookie right-hander Didier Fuentes, who will be making his second career start. Fuentes, the Braves' No. 10 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, allowed four earned runs on six hits and one walk across five innings in Marlins.
