What do Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby and the Atlanta Braves have in common?
They all take Sunday off.
At least the Braves have of late. Sunday’s 4-3 loss to the struggling San Francisco Giants was their third straight Sunday setback and their fifth in the last seven Sundays dating back to the weekend before the All-Star break.
And this isn’t a new phenomenon. Atlanta lost three of four April Sundays to open the year. Despite owning the best record in baseball overall (80-43), the Braves are just 10-10 on Sunday overall.
Moreover, this hammers home the old line that momentum in baseball is the next day’s starting pitching, because Saturday night’s 6-5 comeback win was a soul-crushing kind of defeat for the Giants, especially with a 1:35 Sunday start after losing around 10:15 on Saturday night.
