A Hank Aaron jersey from his 1963 season with the Milwaukee Braves has surfaced at auction for the first time at Grey Flannel.
The jersey was originally gifted by the Braves equipment manager to its consignor in 1964, along with an Eddie Matthews jersey from the same season.
Following the 1963 season, in which Aaron led the league with 44 home runs, 130 RBIs, 121 runs scored and placed third in MVP voting, the team removed the name on the back of the jersey (as was customary) for use in the next year’s spring training.
