The New York Mets ran into Atlanta Braves ace Chris Sale at the worst possible time. They desperately needed a spark amid their four-game losing streak, but the 2024 NL Cy Young Award-winner didn't falter.
Sale tossed 8.2 scoreless innings while Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso were a combined 0-for-12 with five strikeouts. The Mets lost 5-0, extending their losing streak to five games, which is their longest since May 20-25 of last season.
Sale allowed five hits while notching seven strikeouts and just one walk across 116 pitches.
