ATLANTA (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed catcher A.J. Ellis on the 15-day disabled list with right knee inflammation.
The Dodgers recalled rookie catcher Austin Barnes from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Barnes is starting and hitting eighth in Monday night's game against the Atlanta Braves.
The Dodgers needed help at catcher. Yasmani Grandal left Sunday's game after taking a ball off his mask. X-rays were negative.
The 25-year-old Barnes had one hit in five at-bats in his first stint with the Dodgers before he was optioned to Oklahoma City on June 2.
