Braves trade for Cardinals P Erick Fedde to address decimated pitching staff ahead of deadline

A 44-60 start hasn't swayed the Atlanta Braves from buying ahead of MLB's trade deadline.

The Braves announced on Sunday that they've acquired right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

The move addresses pitching depth for a starting rotation that's been decimated by injury. At the time of Sunday's trade, Chris Sale (rib fracture), Reynaldo López (shoulder inflammation), Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow fracture), Grant Holmes (elbow inflammation) and AJ Smith-Shawver (UCL tear) were all on the 60-day injured list.
