Braves trade 6-foot-7 flamethrower to NL East rival

The Atlanta Braves are probably out of the NL East race at this point, barring a miracle.

The same can be said for the Miami Marlins.

On Wednesday, they made a trade together anyway.

The Braves sent righty reliever Michael Petersen to the Marlins for cash considerations.

Miami optioned Petersen to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Petersen pitched 6.2 innings for the Braves before being designated for assignment. In that time, he allowed three runs and struck out five.

At Triple-A Gwinnett this season, Petersen has a 3.13 ERA.
