Miami optioned Petersen to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Petersen pitched 6.2 innings for the Braves before being designated for assignment. In that time, he allowed three runs and struck out five.
At Triple-A Gwinnett this season, Petersen has a 3.13 ERA.
