Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported Sunday afternoon that the Braves have signed third baseman Pablo Sandoval to a minor league contract worth $1 million if he makes the major league team.

It is unlikely that Sandoval would actually spend time in the minor leagues if he doesn’t make the active roster out of spring training, but the designation as a minor league contract means that he doesn’t require a 40-man roster spot at the moment.
