The Atlanta Braves may finally be ready to end the Jarred Kelenic era.
Atlanta optioned Kelenic, the 2018 No. 6 pick, to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. Former Braves playoff hero Eddie Rosario signed a major-league contract and will replace Kelenic on the active roster.
No one should be surprised by the move, even given Kelenic’s history as a top-5 prospect. The 25-year-old entered play Monday hitting .167 with two solo home runs, a .231 on-base percentage, and -0.5 bWAR over 65 plate appearances.
Kelenic struck out in 35.4% of his plate appearances, well above his career 30.
