Braves reportedly acquire Lucas Duda from Royals

The Atlanta Braves have reportedly added a left-handed power bat to the bench by acquiring first baseman Lucas Duda from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations.

Duda has appeared in 86 games for the Royals this season and is hitting .242/.311/.415 with 13 home runs. However, those numbers don’t matter a lot as he will likely be used primarily against right-handed pitchers against which he has posted a 118 wRC+ this season.

This strengthens a bench unit that has struggled somewhat against right-handers. Atlanta was rumored to be interested in Matt Adams a week ago before he was dealt back to the Cardinals in a waiver trade.
