Braves pitcher Minor set to become non-tendered free agent

Braves pitcher Mike Minor was to become a non-tendered free agent at midnight Wednesday after the team declined to offer the arbitration-eligible pitcher a contract, a person familiar with the situation said. The move was expected after Minor missed the 2015 season recovering from shoulder surgery.

Minor can continue negotiating a free-agent contract with the Braves in the coming weeks, but he can also entertain offers from other teams. The Braves had concerns about the status of his shoulder, since he’s not throwing off a mound as they’d hoped he would be by this point in the offseason.
