Braves News: Victory in the North, Cervelli exits early, Waters earns MVP and more

BRAVES NEWS

Matt Joyce carried the Braves offense with three hits, including a homer, and was supplemented by Freddie Freeman, Adeiny Hechavarria, and others as the Atlanta bats plated nine runs. Foltynewicz was not overly impressive, failing to complete five innings while allowing eight hits and three runs.

Initially it was concerning when Cervelli was lifted on Wednesday, but reports later indicated that the move was precautionary due to quad tightness.

The Braves will not send any of their elite prospects to Arizona this fall, but have several very intriguing players mixed into this year’s AFL crop:

Greyson Jenista, Trey Harris, Justin Dean, Daysbel Hernandez, Connor Johnstone, Brad Roney, Garrison Schwartz, and Brandon White are all expected to reported to Arizona from the Braves to play for Scottsdale starting in the middle of September (a notable and welcome change from previous years so that pitchers don’t have to re-amp back up after the minor league season ends).
