Mike Foltynewicz struggled as the Braves wrapped up their homestand with an 11-2 loss to the San Diego Padres. Foltynewicz discussed the velocity drop on his fastball with MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.
“I’m getting guys out, so I’m not worried about [the velocity drop],” Foltynewicz said. “I’ve just got to get my off-speed where it needs to be. The fastball command has been good. They hit a couple balls well today, but it’s mostly been my slider that hasn’t been working.”
Shane Carle allowed five runs in just one inning of work during Thursday’s loss to the Padres and was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following the game.
