The Braves acquired outfielder Alex Jackson and a player to be named from the Mariners on Monday night. Atlanta sent right-handed pitchers Rob Whalen and Max Povse in exchange.
Jackson, 20, was a first round Draft pick (sixth overall) of the Mariners in 2014. He hit .243 with 20 doubles, 11 homers and 55 RBIs in 92 games with Class A Clinton this year. Jackson was rated as the Mariners' No. 6 prospect, per MLBPipeline.com. Through three seasons in the Minors (191 games), Jackson has batted .233 with 68 extra-base hits.
Whalen, 22, made his Major League debut for the Braves last season, going 1-2 with a 6.
