The Atlanta Braves added veteran catcher Stephen Vogt in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Vogt, 36, is a two-time All-Star and will be a free agent after the season. The Braves will pick up the remainder of his $3.5 million salary for 2021.
In return, the Diamondbacks receive first base prospect Mason Berne.
Vogt is batting .212 with five home runs and 17 RBIs in 52 games this season, his second with the Diamondbacks.
His career seemed in jeopardy after he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in 2018 while a member of the Milwaukee Brewers.
