Braves cut ties with unfortunately named pitcher after nightmare outing

The Atlanta Braves were counting on a pitcher with maybe the most unfortunate name in baseball.

Scott Blewett, that is. Pronounced like "blew it."

On Thursday, Blewett got four outs and allowed five runners to score after three hits, two walks and three home runs allowed.

The Diamondbacks scored seven runs in the ninth inning to beat the Braves, 11-10. Ketel Marte, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Alek Thomas all took Blewett deep.

After the game, Atlanta designated Blewett for assignment, removing him from the 40-man roster.

In his stead, the Braves are calling up franchise legend Craig Kimbrel, who hasn't appeared in a game for Atlanta since 2014.
