The Atlanta Braves are in the midst of a disappointing season. They are 46–63 and fourth in the NL East after entering the year with expectations of contending for a World Series title.
At the trade deadline, Atlanta was expected to move off expiring contracts — most notably Marcell Ozuna — to recoup assets for a depleted farm system. Instead, the Braves elected to retain the three-time All-Star.
Ozuna joined the Braves in 2020, signing a four-year, $64 million contract with a club option that was exercised prior to the 2025 season. The 34-year-old is set to enter unrestricted free agency following the conclusion of this season.
