Bianca Andreescu wins Lou Marsh Award

Bianca Andreescu, the 19-year-old who captured the country’s attention with wins at the Rogers Cup and U.S. Open, has been named the winner of the 2019 Lou Marsh Award.

Bianca Andreescu is the unanimous winner of the Lou Marsh as Canada’s top athlete for 2019.

Andreescu became the first Canadian ever to win a Grand Slam, defeating Serena Williams by a score of 6-3, 7-5 in the final.

The Thornhill, Ont., native started the year outside of the top-100 in the WTA rankings.
