April 12 (The Sports Xchange) - Former Houston Astros and San Francisco Giants general manager H.B. "Spec" Richardson died Tuesday at the age of 93.

Richardson passed away at his home in Columbus, Ga., due to natural causes.

He is best known for trading away future Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Morgan to the Cincinnati Reds in 1971 in an eight-player trade that brought first baseman Lee May to Houston. Morgan went on to win back-to-back MVP awards as the Reds won consecutive titles in 1975-76.
