Earlier this offseason, Sean Rodriguez and his family were involved in a serious car accident. At first, it appeared that Sean was extremely fortunate to escape the accident with minor injuries and would be ready for spring training. As it turns out, he’s going to need surgery and could be out for 3-5 months, or even longer.
As a result of the bad news on the Rodriguez front, the Braves decided to revisit trade talks with the Reds when it came to Brandon Phillips. Phillips must have had a change of heart, because he decided to approve the trade this time, instead of exercising his 10/5 rights to block the deal.
