ESPN.com’s Keith Law began his countdown of the Top 100 prospects in Major League Baseball on Monday and Atlanta lefty Sean Newcomb came in at No. 81. Law labels Newcomb an “enigma” with so much potential but he just hasn’t been able to harness it with any regularity resulting in a 51 spot drop in this year’s rankings.
Newcomb is truly an enigma among prospects. He’s a lefty who can show three above-average or better pitches, has minimal effort in his delivery, but doesn’t have the control -- let alone the command -- to start, leaving him with no obvious way to get where he needs to go.
